Studying in Canada
Learn about the types of visas you need to study in Canada. FutureCan consultants will help you by understanding your scenario and adapting the steps based on your objective.
Types of visa

VISITOR VISA WITH STUDY PERMIT (SX-1)
The SX-1 is a visitor visa with study permission for individuals who intend to take courses in Canada lasting less than 24 weeks.
As this visa focuses on entry into Canada for study purposes, the educational institution must be recognized as a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). This means that the institution is authorized to receive international students.
In addition, the educational institution must provide the applicant with a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) in order to obtain the visa.
STUDY PERMISSION (S-1)
The S-1 is a study visa for individuals who intend to take long-term courses in Canada, i.e. longer than 24 weeks. Like the SX-1, to obtain this visa, it is essential that the educational institution is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and provides the applicant with a Letter of Acceptance (LOA).
One of the significant advantages of the S-1 is the permission to work. Depending on the course chosen and the conditions laid down in the study permit, this visa can allow the holder to work up to 20 hours a week during the course and unlimited hours during student breaks and vacations. In addition, the validity of the S-1 visa is directly related to the length of the course of study.
This type of visa represents an excellent opportunity for those who wish to combine long-term studies with work experience in Canada, thus providing both academic and professional depth to the Canadian experience.

STUDY AND WORK PERMIT (SW-1)
The SW-1 is the visa for those wishing to study undergraduate or postgraduate courses that include a compulsory internship component, also known as a Co-Op.
In addition to the permission to carry out the Co-Op, the SW-1, like the S-1, also allows the holder to work up to 20 hours a week in addition to the time dedicated to the Co-Op. The validity of this visa is directly linked to the duration of the study program.
SW-1 offers an integrated and enriching experience for students, combining classroom theory with practical work experience, allowing them to apply the knowledge acquired in real work environments and acquire valuable skills for the future.
